Setu-Firestorm's News

Posted by Setu-Firestorm - September 7th, 2007

This one is titled "When She Needed You". It is posted exclusively on my MySpace profile at:

http://www.myspace,com/georgerpowell

This one is the longest piece so far for the film (it covers a 4:20) timespan, and while you a feel it's monotonous at some moments, it flows wonderfully with the scene associated with it.

So all you people interested in the music to this film, feel free to visit my MySpace page.

This makes 2 complete pieces and one incomplete piece for the film. Just a reminder: the pieces are MySpace exclusive which means you can only hear them on my MySpace profile; they are not for download or public distribution which is the only reason why I haven't posted them here.

Feel free to check it out on my profile at:
http://www.myspace.com/georgerpowell

The new piece is called "Morning Fishing Trip" even though the first piece "A Legend Told" is still up on my profile as well.

And hell, I don't turn down friend requests (unless of course I know you and don't like you, but none of you guys here in NG fit in that category anyway =p).

I know I've been far too lax about it, but I did go back and responded to some reviews on my music that span back about a week.

I apologize that I haven't been doing it lately, but I will try to keep it in habit.

ALSO, check out the new rock song "Twilight". It's the title track to my album "Twilight"

Well, fall semester's begun. Not only am I keeping up with the Legend of Zelda film scoring which seems to be going steadily, but now I have 3 classes and 1 lab to focus on in the process.

I had quite an ordeal with beginning the semester. First, I found out that I bought the wrong book for Applied Calculus, then I realized in Calculus class that I didn't belong in that course and after talking to the instructor found out I needed to cover Trigonometry and Pre-Calc Algebra first, which puts me two classes behind and the thought of that drives me nuts (because I need to take Calculus I and II as pre-requisites to my major (software engineering); and before anyone asks, I'm majoring in software engineering so that I can get a career that will make good steady money (and I'm not really counting on getting famous although time will tell -- I'm on a better track now than I was before) and keep music composition as a hobby).

If that didn't add to the irritation, when I went back to bookstore to exchange books, I realized that all of the books I bought were the wrong ones and had to find the right books to purchase.

So, anyway, I'm going to be kept pretty busy now (I got Chemistry, Spanish, and Trigonometry going on), but I'll keep you guys posted.

Go ahead and listen. It came out better this time as opposed to last time.

Feel free to drop reviews/downloads/votes.

In Laura's visit here, things've been going great (although they were off to a rough start; namely, AFO blew).

But tomorrow, we're off for the weekend to go to Miami to visit her mother who's visiting there for her birthday, so I'll be gone and busy in that time.

Also, for the LoZ movie, the producer has sent me the first scene in need of scoring, and considering how protective he must be of his material, I take that as a wonderful sign of trust. This also means that I can't say anything more than that I'm scoring a scene of the movie.

So anyway, I will keep you guys posted.

Yep! Laura and I are going to AFO tomorrow for the weekend. I'll be cosplaying as Link (Ooo, betcha didn't see that one coming! =O) and she'll be going as Beatrix from Final Fantasy 9 (because she coudn't finish her Zelda costume in time). We'll be gone for the weekend, but I'll keep you guys posted on what happens with the audition track.

Speaking of which, upon hearing back from producer David Blane, he made subtle suggestions for the piece I composed which involved some changes in mixing/EQing as well as the addition of 9 more measures (typically, it would be 8 more measures, but I allowed the 9th to act as a building measure), so I've uploaded and placed as top the second take at the Audition Track.

I'll give you guys further news next week. Talk to you guys later.

Finally it's been finished and shipped off to the film's producer David Blane who will then share it with the director, Joel Musch.

I have it uploaded on my MySpace profile for listen (not for download, sorry):

The piece is called "A Legend Told"

http://www.myspace.com/georgerpowell

And, for the same reason in my last news entry (being that they have the rights over the distribution of the music I compose for it), I cannot upload it here, so you will just have to listen to it on my MySpace profile.

Enjoy!

Thanks to a nameless fan (who I wouldn't mind them stepping forward so I can thank them), my Legend of Zelda music has been sent to the producer of the Legend of Zelda film "The Hero of Time".
You can view the trailer here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eh-xRJg hQ_c

But anyway, the producer contacted me and asked me to compose sort of an "audition track" to test my musical flexibility and motivation. I'm currently working on composing it, but I will let you guys know how it turns out.

Oh yeah, and I'll be posting the any piece(s) of this project on my MySpace ONLY due to the fact that any distribution rights belong to the producers upon my agreement. So in other words, you can hear the music, but cannot quite download it yet (and I mean "yet" subjectively)

Laura, my Love, is losing a family member in the next few weeks. I feel so helpless that she's in Texas while I'm stuck in Florida (she's staying in Texas for now) and I feel so helpless not being able to be there for her.

I did my best to console her by composing the new piece on my audio page. I did so with the thought in mind that sometimes life itself can seem to have its musical moments if only we're open the opportunities.

I love her, and I don't like her hurting and me not being there to help her get through it.
